Dome Awarded contract by Department of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi

Dome Oilfield Engineering & Services LLC has been awarded a three year On Call Environmental Consultancy Services contract by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi (DMT), the government agency responsible for the development of urban and regional environments of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The On Call Environmental Consultancy Services will involve undertaking of various environmental studies and surveys to support DMT plans and projects. In particular, the environmental studies and surveys will be undertaken to ensure compliance with the relevant requirements of Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD).

The scope of the environmental studies will be in accordance with the actual scope and requirements of EAD for a particular project or plan by DMT. Based on previous projects undertaken by Dome, in most cases it will be Terms of Reference (TOR), a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) or an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). However, for smaller projects or plans, EAD may request for a Preliminary Environmental Review (PER) only.

Furthermore, it may include other requirements, on a case-by-case basis, such as environmental baseline surveys and data gathering and environmental modelling studies (i.e. air emissions dispersion modelling, traffic emissions modelling, noise modelling, etc.). The environmental baseline surveys and data gathering normally includes the following (but not limited to):

  • Ambient air quality monitoring;
  • Noise measurements;
  • Marine water quality and sediment monitoring;
  • Soil and groundwater quality monitoring;
  • Contaminated land study (Phase 1 and occasionally Phase 2);
  • Terrestrial and marine ecology surveys;
  • Bathymetric surveys;
  • Operation Environmental Management Plan (OEMP).
